Juror Nominations

Please help us nominate excellent and diverse jurors for each category included in our suite of nine prizes (the Bill Duthie Award is chosen by booksellers). Prospective jurors should be book lovers and avid readers who are familiar with the incredible writing and publishing community of BC and Yukon. They can come from any walk of life but preference in terms of assignments to specific prize categories (e.g., children’s books, illustrated children’s, adult fiction, adult nonfiction, adult poetry, regional writing) will be given to jurors who have or have had a professional connection to those genres.

You can nominate a friend or colleague and you can self-nominate, too. An individual is eligible if they have not served on one of our juries within the past three years. Jurors must have lived in BC/Yukon for the past 12 months or have lived in BC/Yukon for at least three of the past five years.

Jurors are provided an honorarium and are asked to read a large number of books which are submitted by publishers and authors. Jurors will also engage in facilitated Zoom-based discussions with one another that will help to deepen the decision-making process and determine the outcome.

Responses to this form will help our Jury Committee to make informed decisions that will allow for diverse juries to adjudicate the BC and Yukon Book Prizes submissions.

Juror nominations for the 2025 awards close on October 24th, 2024. Any nominations after this date will be considered for 2026 awards.
