Every community
has a story.

Founded in 1985, the BC and Yukon Book Prizes — administered by the West Coast Book Prize Society — is dedicated to creating a community where books matter and every story has a home.

We celebrate the writers, illustrators, publishers, and passionate readers of British Columbia and Yukon, recognizing outstanding literary achievements and fostering a vibrant book community through 10 prestigious annual prizes and year-round programming.

Our work spans the full book ecosystem: an annual Awards Gala, school and library author tours reaching rural and remote communities, the Adopt-a-Library program, a weekly podcast, and our Storied video series.
